PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania - September 8, 2010 - A PhD. psychologist doing research on addiction says a city cop beat the hell out of him as the doctor waited to interview a patient on the street. The PhD., the mental health director at a county jail, says that before Officer Eric Burke crushed his eye socket, the cop told him, "Tell me what you're doing here or I'll kick your f**king head in." Then, he says, Burke proceeded to do it.

ALLENTOWN, Pennsylvania - September 9, 2010 - A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that Hazleton, Pennsylvania may not enforce its crackdown on illegal aliens, dealing another blow to 4-year-old regulations that inspired similar measures around the country.
The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia said that Hazleton's Illegal Immigration Relief Act usurped the federal government's exclusive power to regulate immigration.

August 28, 2010 - The increasing use of student surveillance and intrusion of school districts into students’ extra-curricular conduct should alarm us all. Whether it is a district surveilling students in their bedrooms via webcam, conducting random drug or locker searches, strip-searching students, lowering the standard for searching students from “probable cause” to “reasonable suspicion,” disciplining students for conduct outside of school hours, searching their cell phones and text messages, or forcing them to undergo pregnancy testing, student privacy is under increasing threat.

Commentary: We need a Revolution, not a Movement

August 27, 2010 - The elections of 2008 (and the early elections of 2010) produced two significant phenomena: the “Ron Paul Revolution,” and the “Tea Party Movement.” And, mark it down: both of them will have profound effects upon the upcoming November elections–and upon the 2012 elections as well. Call them what you want, however, America doesn’t need another movement; it needs a genuine revolution.
