WASHINGTON (PNN) - April 5, 2024 - Our justice system is a goner. The writing was on the wall the moment Douglass Mackey got a federal prison slot for posting an anti-Hillary meme. Then, seeing J6 patriots branded as domestic terrorists and political prisoners sealed the deal. When they threw a parade of sham indictments at President Donald J. Trump, also known as “election interference,” well, that was the cherry on top. March 14, 2024 - It has become an article of faith that under our system of government, federal officials can declare an emergency, which then purportedly authorizes federal officials to exercise emergency powers.

However, it just isn’t true. There is nothing in the Constitution that authorizes the federal government to declare an emergency or to exercise emergency powers.
