Fighter jets with laser weapons set to take to the skies in 2021

BETHESDA, Maryland (PNN) - November 6, 2017 - Lockheed Martin is working to develop a high-power fiber laser for fighter jets.

Under a $26.3 million contract from the Air Force Research Lab, the firm will design and produce a directed energy system for aircraft, with plans to test the technology by 2021.

HAMPSHIRE, England (PNN) - October 15, 2017 - A senior inventor at IBM has forecast artificially intelligent nano-machines will be injected into humans within 20 years to repair and enhance muscles, cells and bone.

John McNamara, who works at IBM Hursley Innovation Center, in Hampshire, submitted evidence to the House of Lords Artificial Intelligence Committee, which is considering the economic, ethical and social implications of AI.
